Farm work experience and tenure
Access to affordable land for long-term lease or purchase remains a significant barrier for farmers across King County. Rising land prices continue to make it challenging for new farmers to acquire land and for veteran famers to expand their operation. Measuring changes in primary occupation of farmers, tenure, and operating years will be useful for understanding progress toward putting more farmers on more land in the future.
Primary Occupation of Producers
Producer: 50 percent or more of worktime spent farming or ranching.
Other: The producer spent less than 50 percent of worktime farming or ranching
