Farmer Characteristics
If King County farmland is not managed and farmed, it may be diverted to other purposes. With an aging farm population, there will be a generational transition of land ownership, and we need to support new farmers in order to maintain a vibrant farm economy that brings economic, cultural, and environmental benefits to the county.
Total number of producers
Young and beginning producers (2017)
Young producer is defined as a producer 35 years of age or younger.
Principal producer is defined as the person who makes the most decisions for the farm.
